Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 1 hour Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes Servings: 12–14
Ingredients
- 2 (16 oz) packages spaghetti - 2 pounds lean ground beef (or mix of beef and Italian sausage) - 2 (24 oz) jars spaghetti sauce (or homemade marinara) - 1/2 cup butter, sliced (reduce to 6 tablespoons for a lighter version) - 2 cups cottage cheese (small curd recommended) - 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened - 1 cup sour cream - 3 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese - Optional: Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease two 9x13-inch baking dishes or one deep lasagna pan. 2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until al dente, 8–10 minutes. Drain and set aside. 3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef (or sausage blend). Drain excess fat. Stir in spaghetti sauce and simmer for 5 minutes. 4. In a bowl, blend cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, and optional seasonings (like Italian herbs or garlic powder). 5. Layer 1/2 of the cooked spaghetti into the prepared dish. Top with half the butter slices. 6. Spread all of the cheese mixture evenly over the noodles. 7. Add the remaining noodles and top with the remaining butter slices. 8. Pour the meat sauce over the top and spread evenly. 9. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle with Cheddar cheese, and return to oven for 15–20 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
